I had a similar experience with decluttering. In autumn 2023, I started my journey when I discovered Marie Kondo, and it really changed my life. Not dramatically, such as changing jobs or moving abroad, but in an essential way nonetheless. I rediscovered my creativity. Why? Because I suddenly had a lot of space. Of course, the decluttering was a physical action, but it opened up so much inside me, and my creativity found its way to the surface again. So yes, decluttering can give you freedom, joy, and, I think, also wisdom.
Rebecca so lovely to read your words in which I find lots of resonance and similarities.
Yes, sometimes it is in the shifts and changes like these ones that life show up in the most powerful way. Steadily, slowly transforming us from within! So good to read this message!
I enjoyed this read. I have always been good at keeping my physical space clutter free, and even my digital spaces organized at least (sometimes I declutter and delete files I don’t need but this is hard to stay on top of regularly)
But I kinda wanna do some work on the idea de-cluttering too because I am the same — I always have tons of ideas and I tend to hold onto them forever in case I want to do them later. But I think there are some ideas that are maybe just meant to be ideas and not meant to be executed on.
Hi Mal, nice to meet you! Thank you for sharing 💫🪁 I love that and I’ve always appreciated people who have that quality! You should take a look at my 40K + unread emails 😅😅😅😅
And I hear you about the ideas..
I think it’s cool to have space to go wild and explore different ideas and then maybe keep an ‘idea bank’ I have one for my life, things I wanna do at some point (almost like a bucket list) and courses I wanna do and other lives I wanna live ahah
Yeah I want to make a “list” or idea bank where I can kinda keep certain things (creative ideas, travel plans, bigger bucket list things) but in no way do I want this list seeping into my weekly creative to do lists because then I just get overwhelmed and do none of it 😅😅
Totally :) I feel it’s almost like every idea can have a space to be honoured and then regularly let go… let me know how it goes I’ll do the same as I declutter 🥳🥳
And newness is life giving! I have been shedding and in a space of renewal in so many areas of my life, the tension has wanted me to go back to what felt safe however on the other side is exactly what you share ... space and liberation!
This is a very relevant topic for us creatives! I've recently let go of a creative partnership that had stopped bringing me joy long ago (I'd been considering ending it since 2023). Letting go of that person and their negative behaviors/opinions has freed me from so much anxiety and self doubt! I feel more like myself and that has surely impacted my art. This was a great exercise! Thank you Leti for holding space for everyone to reflect on this. Decluttering the physical space is so important too. I mediate a lot while cleaning the house (my last post was about that!) and I've heard the same thing from a couple of friends, how cleaning and decluttering brings them mental and emotional clarity. Definitely worth doing. Have a great week!
I’ve got a million things to say, really, I’m in my own creative healing process but I’m just going to say i LOVED THIS ✨
Dear Crys 💫 thank you for sharing and being here. I see you and I acknowledge you. And I’m glad we are on the path.
