The magic of live music 🎶
What I like about being a songwriter and an artist is having access to two distinctive parts of my creativity.
Songwriting's quiet, transformational, often solitary nature takes me on an introspective journey within myself. When I write, I usually retreat until the song or songs I work on are complete. I explore, research, and redraft. I almost cannot think of anything else but my song.
My world couldn’t be more different when I performed as an artist. The reflective quality leaves space for my longing for connection and self-expression. Something magical happens when I am performing live: spontaneity and being present allow me to offer something unique to those who co-create the live experience with me.
I don’t see a concert as a one-way street where I - the artist - share her songs, and that’s it. I see it as a co-creation. With the space, the people in the room, our emotions and thoughts, experiences, past and desires for the future.
Like a potent potion, all the work done around writing the song blends with the moment's uniqueness to create something magical!
When I record my music in the studio, I know that something always gets lost in making things sound ‘perfect’.
Since I was a teen, when I started recording my work, I’ve often had people who, when they see me singing live, seem to appreciate my art more. I always understood why this was happening. I know that as much as I try to convey that unique spontaneity and vibrancy when recording in the studio, nothing beats the live experience.
This is why I love the imperfection and authenticity of what happens in every moment of a live performance.
While I prepare and practice for live performances, I always like to leave some elements of improvisation. Last Sunday, for example, I felt inspired to stand up and perform a capella at one of my concerts, which I have rarely done. There was such silence and powerful energy!
Below is a snippet from last Sunday’s gig of me singing ‘Bittersweet’ a song I am currently producing. Hope it inspires you to come see me live. 💜
So this week I’d love to invite you to my concerts 💃
One event in particular is very unique!
I am performing at a fabulous, super cool event called ‘Tracing emigration from Ticino to London’. This collaboration between the London Metropolitan Archives (LMA) and the Unione Ticinese (UT is designed to celebrate both the UT's history and heritage and the emerging innovative talent of Swiss Italians in London.
I will perform, share my art and stories, and participate in a panel with other Swiss artists. It's a great opportunity to learn more about my heritage and connect with other members of the Swiss community. You don’t have to be Swiss to join!
Tickets are £5
At the end of February, I will perform at ‘The Gunners’ opening for Parachute Words, who are presenting their new Album.
Tickets are free; it’d be fantastic to see you!
Thanks for reading and the support
