Introducing my new songwriting and research project
Hello friends 🙋♀️
How are you all?
I am writing this post from my solo creative retreat, where I’m at for the next two weeks.
Solitude is one of my favourite medicines. It is a vehicle for self-connection, and since I’ve been working on my final Master’s project, I knew I needed time to nurture my inner artist. I feel so blessed to be able to do some valuable creative work from here. When I'm alone, my inner world has space to breathe, observe, dance, and even appreciate my life more.
Today, though, I am not here to talk about the power of solitude, though I am certainly exploring this theme in my artistry.
I’d love to tell you more about the project I am currently working on as part of my Masters in Songwriting.
I am investigating the intersection between Buddhist philosophy and psychology and my artistry and Self-transformation.
I am using the ‘Six Realms’ framework in the Wheel of Life—also called Bhavacakra—to explore my development as a person and artist.
So far, I have been writing songs inspired by hell, hungry ghosts, and human realms, and it’s been incredibly healing and transformative. If you are intrigued by the project and want to learn more about the process, the songs, and some of my insights, consider joining my Patreon community, where I’m sharing more about this project.
The project aims to look at the landscape outside of me, taking into consideration all the fantastic artists, composers and songwriters who have been writing inspired by their love for spirituality while continuously taking time to dive into my inner experience and peel off the layers of my ego to get closer and closer to my authentic expression.
The Wheel of LIfe offers a vibrant and multi-layered way to look at our human experience and help us navigate and transform pain, teaching us to use these moments as catalysts for growth. I intend to dive deeper in a way that I have never done before, with bravery, transform the most painful limiting belief or attachment I might experience, and, out of them, stay open to meet a more authentic version of myself and my artistry!
I am expecting this journey to transform me in a way that I cannot quite predict.
I like what Heidigger used to say about the concept of Dasein as “Being-in-the-world”, as an existential concept that emphasises human existence as a state of living with a highly meaningful orientation. Each individual has a unique destiny to fulfil in this world.
My commitment is for my transformation - whatever forms that will take - will enable me to be fully connected to my self-expression and meaning!
The project will finish in August 2024, so I’m right in the middle of it. Out of this, I’m hoping to create an album for you to listen to and appreciate and, who knows, maybe a different way to experience live music.
I will continue to share here on Substack.
If you join as a free member (add your email address), you’ll get access to more insights. Of course, as a Patreon, you’ll get to hear about my creative process and vulnerable insights.
Your support means the world to me.
Love, Leti 🌊
